  • They are surprisingly bright and sociable, bunnies make good pets. Rabbits are very social as well as active and playful, forming a close bond with their owners. As long as you know what to expect from a pet rabbit, they have the potential to be wonderful pets.

  • Our Bunny is the sweetest. She’s been around a long time. Her current home was very neglectful, but once we got her the kids have just loved and cared for her and she has warmed up to us all and is so smart and sweet!

Do rabbits like to be cuddled?

  • Most rabbits love to be cuddled and stroked when approached in the right way. Few like being held or carried as being so high up from the ground makes them feel insecure, however, many will happily sit on your lap or snuggle up next to you for a cuddle. … Avoid disturbing your rabbit when it is sleeping.

  • Once our bunny learned to trust us she totally lets us hold her and snuggle her! If we are outside just chilling in the yard she will come out and hang out with us. When we do s’mores she comes out pretty quick. Don’t worry we don’t give her any but she is always hanging out under our chairs sniffing the lovely smell.

Are rabbits high maintenance?

rabbit, bunny, cute

Well I guess that depends on what you call high maintenance, I personally don’t think so but other think Rabbits are high maintenance. So it’s a matter of perspective if you ask me. They, like any animal require daily care. Most pets, in fact, also need daily care make sure every day they have unlimited hay/or other bunny foods and water, and a clean cage. We Keep our bunnies food in her home but we leave the door open (fenced yard) and she lets her self in and out of her home when ever she wants.

She goes in when she wants to eat and when she wants to be left alone, other wise she’s out playing in the yard, with the dogs or the kids. Yes she has dug burrows under ground but she only goes in them at night and returns to us every morning and she’s so happy, healthy and sweeter then ever! So again no I don’t think so. In the winter we wrap a tarp around her cage walls to keep the wind out and have a heated bed for her. She doesn’t go out of it often in the winter but I love when we see she’s out hoping in the snow!

Do pet rabbits bite?

rabbit, animal, mammal
  • Though pet rabbits are cute and cuddly, they sometimes bite. Rabbits can bite people for many reasons, including stress, fear, or mistaking you for food. Though bites from rabbits can be rather painful, they don’t usually cause any health and medical complications.

  • Just learn your bunnies personality. And know like us humans sometimes they just don’t like certain people. Our bunny tries to fake bite (its more of a threat) my husband, she doesn’t like him, but the rest of us she is fine with and doesn’t bite. Although she finally seems to be learning to like my husband a bit more these days LOL. We don’t let her think she scares us. She tried to fake bite at my older daughter once and the way she handled it was she just kept her hand in the cage to show her she wasn’t afraid and the bunny learned my daughter was in charge because she wasn’t scared of her. And doesn’t do it any more.

How long do pet bunnies live?

Bunnies tend to live about eight to 12 years old. While the average life span of a pet rabbit is, according to the House Rabbit Society, about eight to 12 years old, certain breeds of pet rabbits are known to live longer than others. Just like dogs, miniature or dwarf breeds of rabbits tend to live longer than giant breeds.

We think our sweet girl is going on about 7/8 years but we aren’t sure. We know she’s older but she is still very active and sweet, except to my husband LOL. But she loves everyone else. She is learning to love my hubby though.

Do rabbits recognize Thier name?

  • Yes. Bunnies can understand their names and some other short, simple words. Some rabbits are smarter than others and can understand more words, but generally speaking, all rabbits will eventually learn their own names and may respond to you when you call.

  • Our bunny definitely recognizes her name. If the kids go outside and sit on the grass, all they have to do is call her name and she will come!

Do bunnies make good indoor pets?

Our Bunny lives outside HOWEVER my dear friend has a bunny who lives in the house and roams freely through the house. She is a great pet and they love having her inside. What about going potty all over the house you ask??? Well their Rabbit is potty trained! Yep, that is correct, you can potty train a bunny. See this link on how to potty train your bunny.

How long does it take for a bunny to bond with you?

girl, rabbit, friendship
  • A quick bonding can take two weeks while the more difficult ones can take 3-4 months. On rare occasions, bonding takes 6 months to a year. Not only will you need to make a time commitment, but you will need patient and love. Our bunny, we rescued, thank goodness but because of how she was pretty touched by the kids and ignored and locked in a tiny cage for so long for multi years, it has taken us quite a while to get her to trust us. She is just now two years later starting to like my husband but the kids she has trusted them form almost a year now. It has been a long road for her but she is so happy now and so sweet!
